Cleansing With Oil? Yes, Really.

Can you really clean your face with oil?

Yes!  And in doing so you will be nourising your skin as you clean it.

We clean our skin to remove dirt, grime, dead skin cells, sunscreen and makeup. Many commercial cleansers overly dry our faces, resulting in a natural re-balancing when our skin produces even more oil. Cleansing with a plant-based oil and face washer will clean without stripping away all your natural oils, and your face washer is all the exfoliation most of us need.

How does it work?
Think of cleansing oil as millions of small particles that can sweep into your pores, bind with the dirt, makeup, sunscreen and anything else you have on your face.  You then take all that away when you wipe your face with a warm damp face washer.  The particles are so small they do not get stuck in your pores, and hence can't clog them.  You skin will be left clean and replenished.

Which oils are best?
Those with a lower chain length
We call these oils non-comedogenic - they won't block your pores so are perfect to use on your face.  Here is a list of our favorates:

  • Argan oil
  • Camellia seed oil
  • Grape seed oil
  • Hazel nut oil
  • Hemp seed oil
  • Rosehip oil
  • Safflower oil

We chose camellia seed oil to be the base of our oil cleanser because it nourishes our skin with an abundance of vitamins A, B, C, D and E, omega 3, 6 and 9, is an excellent source of plant collagen and is high in antioxidants.   It's also great for our lashes!

We have also added Frankincense essential oil to  reduce pore size and calm redness, Rosehip oil to even out skin tone, and Ylang Ylang which is a natural antiseptic that offers a fruity floral scent.

Be good to your skin. You'll wear it every day for the rest of your life. - Renee Rouleau
